Description:
Woodstock Festival Poland is now Pol’and’Rock Festival! The festival will see its 24th edition with a new, authentic name. The name might have changed but the ethos of the festival remains the same. The organizers of this massive event carry on the ideals made famous by the hippie era: LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, MUSIC. The festival is unique not only by virtue of its non-commercial character, but also because it is organized by the largest NGO in Poland. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity holds this free summer music festival in order to celebrate and thank all volunteers and supporters of its initiative to improve the conditions at public hospitals through the purchase of state-of-the art medical equipment.
This biggest non-commercial music festival in the region and one of the biggest festivals in the world attracts a crowd of almost 500 000 revellers annually. With a diverse line-up of international music stars and home-grown talent, the event also features workshops and presentations of different local and global NGOs and social initiatives. The attendees not only have a chance to enjoy world-class music at four vibrant stages of the festival, but also can get involved in meetings with celebrated public figures: influential artists, social activists, journalists or politicians travel to the festival to hold open discussion panels. Other activities include music workshops, first aid lessons, shopping at the vibrant shopping alley, delicious food, yoga and climbing exercises and many other art and craft activities.
Festival is held annually in the vicinity of Kostrzyn nad Odrą, located close to the former Polish-German border. The event, campsites and festival infrastructure are all available to the festival goers free of charge. Pol’and’Rock will continue the tradition originated by Woodstock Festival Poland as a cult event in the region promoting the ideas of freedom, tolerance, and peace.
