Description:
The only event of its kind in Europe, the OFF Festival Katowice debuted in 2006 in Myslowice. For the past three years, the festival has been held on the first weekend of August at Katowice’s Dolina Trzech Stawów – a beautiful green oasis in the heart of industrial Silesia. The OFF Festival is more than just a musical event, it’s a way of life; one that goes against the grain of trends, boredom, and mediocrity. Artur Rojek, the creator and head of the festival, is determined to support new, challenging, and ambitious music. His festival gives many outstanding artists from around the world a chance to perform in front of Polish audiences for the first time. The OFF Festival grows stronger with every year. Rojek’s eclectic taste and bold lineup selections have helped the event win the favor of the media and fans in Poland and abroad. From international alternative stars to new and intriguing faces on the Polish scene: the OFF Festival gives music lovers an opportunity to hear artists that other festivals wouldn’t dare or even think to invite. A winner of multiple music and media industry awards, and praised by fans, the OFF Festival received the prestigious European Festival Award for Best Medium-Sized Festival in January 2012, and is one of the elite few festivals nominated for best lineup. The OFF Festival has also received praise from Pitchfork. The popular website – an unquestioned authority in the world of music – named the OFF Festival among the world’s 20 essential summer festivals in 2012.
