Guide: Accessibility when Recruiting Volunteers

This is a guide helping you make the process of recruiting volunteers more inclusive. It explains how to improve the diversity of people who are allowed to volunteer in your organisation. The guide was written by Roskilde Festival in 2023.

Roskilde Festival is a non-profit festival with 130,000 participants, 30,000 volunteers and 2000 year-round volunteers. It is based in Denmark and has been going since 1971.

The guide is meant for team leads or recruiters who are looking to find volunteers. It is supposed to broaden their horizon when it comes to which groups of people could potentially volunteer and explains how to handle recruiting someone with a disability or someone who might need extra support.

The guide showcases Roskilde Festival’s internal procedures and rules regarding volunteer roles. That means it will not be directly transferable, but it can be used as inspiration to learn how you can communicate about accessibility and promote it in volunteer recruitment.
