Initiated in the spring of 2019, the ‘Diversity Roadmap’, aims to guide the music industry in fostering mindfulness and determination against discrimination. The tool was created by PETZI (the Swiss live music association), in collaboration with the Swiss music associations Helvetiarockt, Flirt Don’t Hurt, Sensability and We Can Dance It.
Its objective is to promote respect for all individuals and actively engage a broad spectrum of people. Collaborating with partners, ongoing efforts focus on generating fresh insights and recommendations to enhance the inclusivity and diversity of events, programs, communication, and organizational structures.
The writers emphasize that embracing diversity and active participation in life involves taking responsibility and implementing measures to create inclusive spaces. The aim is to cultivate environments that are less discriminatory and actively advocate for the respectful coexistence of various ways of living. The ‘Diversity Roadmap’ doesn’t offer ready-made solutions, but rather encourages individuals to question, engage in discussions, and develop their own attitudes and actions.
The main areas of the ‘Diversity Roadmap’ are communication, structures, programming, infrastructures, and intervention. The Roadmap exists in digital and printed form and is available in English, German, Italian and French. Additionally, the report “Not just a poster in toilets” is available in German and French. For the report, several clubs and festivals were interviewed about their needs regarding sexual harassment prevention and intervention.
