What you can learn from the European Festival Summit

Around 200 participants met at Tollhaus in Karlsruhe to discuss how they can make festivals fit for the future at the first European Festival Summit. The program from 18th to 20th November proved to be relevant for the participants, who came from the festival industry and external fields such as event production, ticketing and digital services. This report summarizes the learnings from each panel and workshop that took place at the event hosted by YOUROPE and Karlsruhe Marketing & Event GmbH.

Topics covered include challenges for the festival sector, the role of culture, music and live events, safety and technology issues like cybersecurity and AI, ecological sustainability including a good practice example (Boom Festival) and digital circular construction, communication, Gen Z marketing, EU funding opportunities, and social sustainability including a good-practice example (Roskilde Festival) and strategies for supporting Ukraine.
