(formerly ETEP – European Talent Exchange Programme)

YOUROPE is a founding partner of the European Talent Exchange Programme.

The European Talent Exchange Programme (ETEP) is an initiative of the Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) Foundation to stimulate the circulation of European repertoire on festivals, radio, and in the media in Europe. In 2021, the name was changed to ESNS Exchange. Together with 130 major music festivals from both inside and outside of Europe, 27 European public radio stations united in the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and supported by the international music press, we help emerging European artists to cross borders in Europe and build international careers.

Over the years, the programme has made an impeccable impact. Since the start of ETEP in 2003, a total of 4578 shows by 1852 European artists from 38 countries were played at 127 ESNS Exchange festivals (2003 – 2021). With 483 shows on 122 festivals by 161 European artists, the programme generated a record-breaking number of shows in 2018. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, ESNS Exchange continues to stimulate the cross-border success of European artists and helps build artists’ European and international careers.

The programme and its partners and supporters – like the European CommissionSena Performers, and Buma Cultuur – play an essential part in the European festival industry. Also in the network included are European export offices, which, together with Eurosonic Noorderslag and YOUROPE, create a link between the programme and festivals across Europe.

In previous years, acts like Ásgeir, Aurora, Benjamin Clementine, Birth of Joy, Coely, Ewert and the Two Dragons, Hozier, Ibeyi, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Jungle, MØ, Milky Chance, Seinabo Sey, SOAK, Vök, Years & Years played at a lot of festivals, kick-starting their European careers with help from the ETEP programme.
