Water Management: Boom Festival Case Study
Boom Festival (capacity 40,000) in Portugal has the motto “every drop counts,” a sentiment appropriate for an event located in a country feeling the effects of climate change, with widespread drought becoming common and already affecting event licences. Boom’s approach has been to maximise the water that is available, reduce water consumption and treat grey water for reuse on the land while building systems that prevent contamination of the nearby lake and waterways.
The case study is part of the Erasmus+ project FUTURE FESTIVAL TOOLS, in which YOUROPE together with a team of partners from all over Europe has developed GREEN FESTIVAL STORIES – A COLLECTION OF INSPIRING EXAMPLES FROM ACROSS EUROPE. This guide shows you great cases in sustainable festival development within six focus areas:
- Energy
