A Conversation on Europe…

…through the Lense of Arts and Culture

Europe is under continual construction. Surely, so are the relations between arts and politics.

‘About Europe’ is an open invitation from and to the cultural world to engage in a public conversation about the evolution of Europe — as a continent, as a political entity, as a voice in the world and as a cultural society.

The cultural sector carries an intrinsic responsibility towards the reality of the time and space in which it operates.

Together with our friends at YOUROPE’s sister network European Festivals Association, who initiated this project, we invite the political world to be open to the vision of the sector and its contribution.

Conversation Starters

  • How can people in the arts influence European policy?
  • Can arts festivals help politicians be more constructive and empathetic?
  • Do and should people in the arts bear any responsibility for Europe’s development?
  • Can cities be engines for European togetherness?
  • How can special local festivals benefit from being involved in European debate?
  • Is Europe our community?
  • Do politics overwhelm the arts?

Thoughts from the festival sector

We at YOUROPE are joining the conversation, too. Read what the members of YOUROPE’s network think about Europe by clicking on their image or the link below their image. Find all contributions to About Europe here.
